How to read CAN bus? Is it even possible for the DIY'er?

305 motor swapped for 325

Hopefully someone here will know. When using the Autoworld motor mounts in a chevy while keeping the 4500 trans will the trans need to be pushed back. I want to leave the trans and xfer case in the stock location.

I'm still looking for a bellhousing etc so I cant measure. Havent gotten a clear awnser when I talked to donna ?

Anyone know for sure ??

On my '89, I found that the transmission does shift rearward. . You don't want to push the engine forward, as it may get into / darn close to your radiator. .

I'm not 100% sure

But maybe 99% sure you are going to get tho move the transmission from its stock position if you use the stock fan. If you go electric it may be done. You may be able to get away with not cutting the torsion bar by sliding it back. I believe there is an inch or two of play in the length of the torsion bars. . I can also tell you you will not be as far back as I am so this will make it easier. Finally you could use a piece like is used in a lift kit and pull the torsion bar down under the frame.

Im still trying to get parts rounded up but I brought the rolled Cummins home today. I will have the remaining 6. 5 parts out and the garage cleaned out this weekend. I thought I had a deal on the housing etc. . but the other member still hasnt e-mailed me his paypal address yet.

On a side note Ive got a good 1st gen 2wd overdrive auto trans leftover as well as a Dana 70 rear axle. Anybody wanna trade ? I need a bellhousing, motor adapter, flywheel, starter and a good core clutch from a 94-98 12v truck. Im gonna probably end up making my own mounts after looking at yours. Hopefully I can get the body lift on and the Cummins at least hanging over the Chevy before the 2nd.

Engine back

My 93 chevy had the transmission, transfer pushed back 2. "

Shortening the rear shaft 2" was easy and cheap. Lenghtening the front shaft 2" was a little more expensive. Extending the tranfer linkages, and bending the NV4500 shifter was easy, moving the cross-members and redrilling a little more difficult. I went back as far as I could. When I installed 4" exhaust, I only had 4 1/4" to run the down-pipe. Had to flatten the cab seams, even with a 2" body lift.
