I received an automated call from FCA today stating that my "2007 Dodge Ram has an open airbag recall and the vehicle could be unsafe to drive. Call your local dealer immediately for additional information."

Did anyone else receive a similar call? I was aware that the passenger side airbag recall was still open but why the phone call?

I got the call last week.

Historically there is always a % of owners that don’t bother getting recalls performed. The nhsta takes the safety recalls seriously and gives the mfgs heat.Corporate and some dealers try to get the vehicles in to perform them in a timely manner.

I got it today. I need to get mine in. The local dealer actually did a clean driver's side recall. I just hate bringing it in.

Did you schedule yours for the recall?

Not yet. I have a friend that travels by the dealership (35 mi away) and I haven't touched base with him yet to see when I can hitch a ride. I'm procrastinating, too, as I just as soon go to the dentist as go to on a dealer's yard. When I had the driver's side done, the service manager said the passenger side took longer and I would go in a coma if I had to stay there long. A former service manager there REALLY got to me the way he test drove my truck. If he doesn't have a better touch with his wife, she's got herself a honey. While my driver airbag was being replaced, a salesman (who should have been wearing a black mask) came out and gave me a beyond ridiculous trade price on a new truck I was looking at to pass the time. With all the disdain I could muster up, I told him I wouldn't trade even. He got the message--he walked off without saying another single word.

I know How tHat feels,I had been retired a bit before the pass side became available for mine. I just took it to the local dealer, they had it done in an hour and a half while I took a walk around town

They have stepped it up a notch on this airbag recall....I was getting the robocall every week until I got the passenger side bag changed......and then the calls continued for about a month until the records were updated.

My '06 passenger air bag change was done through the glove compartment opening. Not a big deal. I think the earlier 3rd Gens are a bit more involved.

Regardless, get it done or unhook your phone....they mean business....

I have been getting this ROBO call for the last month or so. But I haven't gotten the recall done yet. I need both bags done passenger and drivers side. What I am afraid of is the dealer screwing around with the ECM to do the drives side. I do have a cover over the OBDII port but it is not locked. I saw in the latest Geno's catalog a lockable cover that I might buy.

Our land line phone has been disconnect and is now just used for our computer printer/fax machine. So, when anyone calls the land line they get the fax machine. After the machine answers all that get is the fax buzz.

I don't think they have to touch it as long as there is no air bag code.......I can call my dealer and ask if you want....

Just called to confirm, there is no need to plug into the port when doing the air bag recalls if there are no codes, no air bag light, etc....so lock it up if you want...

If dealer's had a tech of your caliber Bob,I wouldn't worry about it.
I know they're out there but...

My EFI pass through was disconnected when I had my driver's side done. This time I'll return it to stock and zip tie it under the dash.

The Dealer is supposed to verify the airbag system(through the obd 2 port) after the recall is performed. If the port is locked they have the right to not perform the recall.
I see very little risk of any risk of unwanted flashes unless you have the back up alarm recall.I see dealers asking before performing that one-everybody hates that one.Techs don’t like doing drb flashes on diesels either.

I am thankful for having a super dealer.....when I read what some of you go through during a dealer visit I go buy donuts and give them to the local dealer crew.....and say "Thanks for doing what you do.."

A little good will goes a long way :D

Well, called my new local Dodge dealer, they have literally only been open a few weeks. Anyway, they are ordering the part and should have it in next week sometime.

It is great to have a dealer in town again. For years the closest has been 25 miles away.
