automatic shift points

Does anyone know if the shift points can be changed on a 92 auto? Mine seems to shift to soon from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 3. Is the shift point controlled by the computer or can it be adjusted by the kick-down arm?

The shift point is controlled by the throttle position sensor (TPS) this thread should fill you in.

Ok, I'm not stupid enough to say I'm 100% positive but, I'm pretty sure the TPS controls ONLY the 3-4, 4-3 shift.

The others are looked after by throttle valve linkage, trans. pressures, and, I THINK, speed sensor.

The very best answer to this is to contact the MAN.

You probably know who, and what the phone number is but if not, just call toll free... 1-866-504-4002 and say Bushwakr told you he could help .

You may have to pass a skill testing question... as in, be more specific kinda thing.

Seriously though, Bill will be glad to help with almost anything. He'll walk you through the issues and he'll be dead honest with you too.
