Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) automatic trans on 2002 studders when using cruise control

I wonder if anyone has experienced a studdering when using the cruise control. I had it happen the other day with about 2600 lbs in the bed. My truck is a 2002 quad cab automatic with 3. 73 gears. I was able to turn off the cruise and maintain the same speeds with out the use of the cruise control and no studdering, any input would be helpful so RSVP if you have any experience.
