I'm starting to think about changing the transmission fluid(full change) in the near future. What are people out there using, ie, the Dodge ATF+4, Amsoil, etc? Is the Dodge ATF dino or synthetic? I'm running a 2500 with a 48RE and a VA duration box.
Thats ok... just did mine with +4 and I believe its synthetic. A fella said +3 would be better cuz the +4 has more slip built in but don't know about that.
I'm under warranty so I don't want something in there anyone can question if/when she takes a dump.
Thanks for the reply, Matt400. I think I will stick with the dealer fluid,(at least for the first one).
Went to a Valvoline quickchange last week and talked to the manager about a complete trans fluid swap. He talked to me about an hour and showed me the equipment and what they used. In my case(Dodge 48RE) they would use Dextron II with a "friction modifier", 1 ounce per quart of transmission fluid. Talk about scary! Try explaining that to the dealer! He also told me it would be no problem to use whatever fluid I brought in; they would charge me a base 79. 00 to do it.
