If you have a transmission jack it is easy. Remove all wiring, driveshafts, linkages. We just did this and tried a few things different. We jacked the truck up as high as we could in the front. The front wheels were on the ground, but we lifted it probably 8 inches or so. Then we put the transmission on the jack, tied it down, jacked the transmission up. Removed the rubber mount on the crossmember, then rocked the crossmember out. Then we let the transmission and transfercase down some(probably need a pan to catch the transfercase fluid). This allows easy access to the transfercase bolts. Pulled the transfercase off. Then jacked then jacked the transmission to somewhat level again. Put an engine hoist of the front of the motor. Removed transmission, then unbolted convertor. Pretty much reversed the order. We have done this numerous times, and i liked raising the truck and lowering the transmission to remove and install the transfercase.
