Automatic Transmission Problems

A buddy of mine is bringing his truck by tomarrow with problems. His Bone Stock 95 2wd auto truck downshifts out of overdrive all the time. He says it is worse when the truck is cold. The transmission was replaced at the dealer about 6000 miles ago. Where shall we look.

try the trans temp sensor... .

Are you sure it's downshifting out of overdrive, or is the TC unlocking? A real likely place to start looking is Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) They're notorious for this kind of behavior.

I will get it in the shop this weekend and check it out. by the way anybody have a factory fan or a Horton fan for my '96 laying around for sale I have had a run in with a deer

Had same problem with mine. Changed everything electrical in transmission but a Transmission Temp Sensor fixed it.

Been there done that! TPS was the culprit. This happend to me before the warranty ran out and the only way I could get the dealer too check it was to show him an article written in the TDR. He read the article and changed the TPS. End of problem.
