Hi All,

I just had my '02 automatic transmission rebuilt.

After about 500 miles of break in I tried from a dead stop to put the pedal to the floor and feel the shift points. It shifted great until overdrive at which point the rpms

were 3500 and it still wouldn't shift. I back off the pedal about a 1/2 in. of travel and it shifted fine.

I took it back and had the guy adjust the linkage until it will shift into overdrive at 3000 rpms during the

same test.

I realize adjusting 1 end of the linkage affects the other end of the linkage. Now the low end shifts awfully

short and fast. Doesn't feel right.

Could someone tell me if which one of the scenarios is correct?

Let me know if you want more info.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I am no expert but I was told that they were set up to not shift into overdrive at full peddle it has to do with conceived load it just like

going into kick down or passing gear as it is sometimes refered to.

Neither scenario is correct. The 1-2 and 2-3 shift points are hydraulic, OD is computer controlled. If the VB is setup correctly it should be no problem. Tuning it just takes some knowledge of how it all works.

Since most people do not want to spend the time and money to tune it, set it up so the lower shift points are correct and do not go WOT until you are at speed. That last little bit won't gain you any power anyway.
