hi guys,

i did a post in regards to a shudder in my auto trans in 3rd and fourth gear , well i got my repair manual for my 1997 4x4 deisel auto from Dodge in the mail today and it said that the use of dextron 2 in the auto will cause shudder , as dextron 2,3 is the main oil used in most auto transmissions in Australia , i went to the trans guy who did the service 2 months ago (2000kms) , he said he used the right oil ? (could not tell me the name or type) mopar 7176 ,but said i should add a friction modifier called lube guard which converts dextron 2/3 to mopar 7176 . The shudder has gone almost 98% after only 10 miles . i guess it will get to 100% with a little more driving . Have i done lasting damage to my trans by doing 2000kms with the wrong oil in the trans . i am going back to get the oil changed out and i will ensure that the right oil goes in this time . any help you can give would be appreciated . what would you guys do ????

regards conn :(

I think it will be OK. The problems seems to be that the oil was too slipppery and now it's not. The clutches should work out the slick oil with time like my limited slip did when I didn't add the additive after a change. Just try not to get too much shudder.
