:) :) Has Any One Installed A Auto Transmission Valve Body Kit Them Self And If So How Hard Of Job Was It I Am A Mechanic But Have Only Worked On Engins Stick Trans. Rear Ends Electrical And Hydrolick Parts,

I Want To Install This Kit But Am Shi About Woring On Automaticks And Valve Bodys Any Info Would Be Helpfull Thanks.

I have thought about doing this as well and even bought a shift kit. Just never got around to actually installing it. And with a new transmission planned in the next couple of months I doubt I will bother.

But I have done some research on it and ran across THIS link that gives you a pretty good idea of what all you will be getting yourself into.

It was one of the early ones BD produced. It shifted very firmly and a little too harsh for my liking. Especially when not towing. Later, I took it back to their shop and their technician re-worked it and I liked it very well.

I since have replaced that transmission with one from DTT and am very pleased with their equipment.

In retrospect, I think the BD VB was good but I convinced myself that I wanted a complete rebuild.

I did the Trans Go shipt kit on my 47RH. If your a mechanic you will be able to do it. Just have a nice clean place to spread parts out and collect all of the correct size drill bits before you start. A dremel to may also be useful. Good Luck

If you go with a Trans Go shift kit, you will be doing the valve body modification.

If you buy a VB from BD or DTT or whoever, all you have to do is remove the old VB and install the new one. They will want your old one in exchange.

I personally didn't have the guts to go the shift kit way.

I had a shift kit installed several years ago by a well known diesel guru. I finally got tired of the poor shift quality (1,2,3, quick shifts) and downshifting to 1st only when almost stopped not to mention the intermittent limp mose start and went with a DTT valve body. Night and day difference! Shifts back to 1st around 17MPH and is firm but not extremely hard like the Trans-go was.
