My pyro gauge just started sticking. For example, if EGT's climb to 800 and I get off the gas, the needle stays at 800 and then jumps down after a few seconds. Conversely, the needle will stay low when I accelerate and then jump up.

Has anyone experienced this problem with Autometer? If so, how is their customer service with replacing them? The gauge is not quite 5 years old. Also, is there anything I can do or spray on the guts of the gauge to keep it from sticking? Thanks.

Not sure about Autometer, however on the electronic style Isspro the ground wire is usually suspect in erratic readings. On the manual style it can be the thermocouple or the wire connections.

I had the same problem about five years ago. Autometer guys were nice but my gauge was 3 or 4 years old and out of warranty so they were going to charge me to inspect it. I have rebuilt gauges before on old cars and realized that I owned this gauge with no help from Autometer, so I just took it apart myself and found that the gauge had fallen apart inside. I bought a new one and it has been great - so far. I can't imagine that racers use them with no problems.

I can't imagine it's an electrical or thermocouple problem based on the way the needle is acting. I guess I'll try to take it apart and see if I can lightly lube it inside.
