Autometer Electric Fuel Pressure Gauge

I was wondering if anyone has installed Autometer's electric fuel pressure gauge (#4361) in their trucks and what their opinion of it was. I notice a lot of people installing mechanical fuel pressure gauges externally and wonder why I haven't seen anybody use this gauge. It's a little pricey, but I would think that more people would be using it. I talked to the tech guys at Autometer this afternoon and they indicated to me that there isn't any reason not to use it for our application, so what gives . Any thoughts or opinions?

I have it in my truck, and like it. It works fine. The first two sending units died an early death, but they were replaced hassle-free, AutoMeter has excellent customer service.

Other people have had trouble with sending units too. I believe the latest version will pass the test.

I went with this one for several reasons. Ease of installation, matches my other AutoMeters, and I figured if I went with a mechanical gauge, by the time I added the cost of an isolator, and lines, I would only be saving about $30.

I should soon be selling this electric gauge along with a hose kit to simplify installation.

I went with this gauge as well and think it is a top quality product. It has a separate "electronics box" which needs to be tucked under the dash, but the fit was no problem. It is true, the electronic transducers are extremely sensitive to the pressure pulses from the injection pump. I used a 1/8" NPT grease gun hose to mount the sender remotely from the bottom of the fuel filter usings one of Ray's tapped banjo bolts. I then hung the sender from a custom bracket mounted to one of the master cylinder studs. This location is free from motor vibrations and the rubber hose dampens the pulses. No problems whatsoever, and it detected an ailing lift pump before I was left stranded.

I used the Autometer Electric as well and like it. Went through one sending unit. I used custom braided fuel line and connected directly to FP and think that caused the sensor to go. Autometer sent me another one no questions asked. I told them where I connected the pump and I thought the pulses killed the sensor, Teh sent snubber as well. I mounted to outlet side of fuel filter. Doing okay now.
