I have Autometer Ultra-Lite series gauges on the way (EGT: 4344, Boost: 4305 and in the future, fuel pressure: 4363) along with a triple pillar pod mount and I am wondering if I ordered the right thermocouple. I ordered the Street Series EGT probe and I am now thinking maybe I should have coughed up the extra money ordered the Competition Series probe. Any thoughts on this would be helpful! Thanks,

Hmmm, I guess I don't know what I am doing with the HTML signature. I made the sigature with Front Page and pasted the code, I guess that doesn't work. Sorry

Not sure about the brand, but I bought a type 'K' thermocouple which is designed to take the heat pre-turbo. I believe the 'J' is for post turbo.

Steve.

Thanks Heetseeker_1.

After reading the forums more this is the plan I have come up with. If I'm doing something wrong here please let me know, thanks. #ad

Auto Meter Ultra-Lite Series gauges.

EGT gauge kit, 0-1600º F: #4344 (includes Street Series thermocouple, which I will install poste-turbo).

Competition Series type "K" thermocouple: #5244, which I will install pre-turbo. (I will use a toggle switch of some sort to switch between thermocouples)

Boost gauge kit, 0-60 PSI: #4305

Electric fuel gauge kit, 0-100 PSI: #4363 (in the future)

3-pod pillar mount: #17203

'J' or 'K' defines the metals that are used to make the junction. Each gauge is designed to work with one type of thermocouple. It's a pretty safe bet that the same range gauges will require the same class of t/c.

Jim

Thanks Ethdee for the post. I just called Auto Meter and asked them about this and they said any of their gauges would work with any of their thermocouples so it should work fine. Thanks again for the thought. #ad
