Dunno if I am placing this in the right forum, I am sure if I am not the "forum police" will assist me in finding the proper place.

My question is if I do in fact like the triple gauge pod I am getting what would be your choice for the 3rd gauge?

#ad

Using AutoMeter Ultralite Series I am going with Pyro (0 to 1600) and Boost (0 to 35psi) but undecided on the 3rd and final choice. I am thinking even tho I don't tow I have a automatic transmission which is gonna get beefed up but might be a good idea to keep a eye on it with a transmission temp gauge? Anyone else have a recomendation on a 3rd gauge? Oil Pressure? Fuel Pressure?

Also so that I KNOW I have everything I need for when the gauges go in can someone list the "acessories" I will need?? Autometer part numbers would be a plus if ya had them handy. I just don't want to get down to it and forget an adapter that I need or anything. Thank you

I think that I would personally run a transmission temp guage, especially with the perf. upgrades that you are thinking of doing. Just my $. 02.

I have the same problem, but do not need the transmission temp gauge with a stick. So I was thinking fuel pressure #ad

Kat,
I am looking at the Ultralite series gauges by Autometer also. Autometer has an excellent webpage with part#`s. One problem I see w/ the Ultralite 2 1/16 gauges. The EGT gauges are only available in 600 degree-1600 range.
Autometers` "full sweep" 2 1/16 electrical gauge is available in a 0-1600 temp range.

Not sure how much it cost. Pyrometer
sending kit is extra.

See everything here: http://www.autometer.com/hp/index.html

UPDATE: I looks like the 0-1600 is available in the Ultralite "full sweep" series. Little confused.

Good choice. I just installed the Autometer Ultra-Lite pyro, fuel, boost and the transmission temp. The pyro is 0-1600 degree's F, and the probe kit is ATM-5243 its a K type. But you have to get a 1/4 to 1/8NPT because it comes with a weld in connector. The other thing I was looking at was going with a perma cool remote filter for the transmission and hooking the gauge in on it.
Thats my . 02 cents worth, hope it helps

I got you now Kat,

Did you need to order a thermocouple w/pyro gauge #ATM-4365 ? I`m not sure if it comes with it.

How about colored bulb covers?

Well honestly dunno. Thats why I posted on here what all I needed to order #ad

That was just strictly the gauges I listed as far as prices (I think). I haven't asked them what all it comes with and what else I need... working on a email to them bout that now.

Let me know Kat. Renegade says we need too get the thermocouple kit with that particular gauge. I think I`m going to go with the 3 gauge Pillar mount. It looks like they don`t make a Triple Full pillar for your year truck yet, Kat. #ad

Well the reason I am tring the dash pod is because I have that pesky tweeter on the pillar. If I don't like the dash pod then I will just do the pyro and boost on the pillar. It really all depends on how I like the looks of that dash pod when it gets here. I am not in a huge rush to get the gauges as I am doing my transmission upgrades first. So my HP mods won't be coming until July I estimate.

I would go with the transmission temp. gauge. JMHO. #ad

I would go with the transmission temp guage since you have an auto. As far as myself, I went with the same pod, but having a 6-speed I opted for the engine oil tempperature gauge instead.

P. S. I use the VDO Vision Series gauges.

Katdesiel, I think you will like the dash pod I know I do, except for the reflection at night. Last night was the first night I drove the truck since I put the gauges in. I guess I will get use to it though. LOL I can't find the invoice for the pyro probe kit but I think it is about another $100. 00 for it. I also have the agate interior and I used duplicolor gray primer and the match is really close hope this helps if you have agate interior.
good luck,

Matching interior paint is available from the dealer in a small spray can.

Renegade,

How did you run the wiring and everything for the gauges from the dash pod? I am thinking about getting the dash pod also and was curious about this. Is there an open area or channel through the dash to run them?

Thanks,
Sparky

Sparky10,

There is a nice channel between the windshield and the dash. I am in the process of installing AutoMeters in a dash pod and have run the wiring through this channel then by where the A-pillar meets the dash. Then by the fuse panel to reach under the dash. Can't see wiring from driving position or from outside the truck either. Run your wires through plastic conduit.

For the boost I removed a plug from the intake manifold and got a couple adapters to go down from 1" to 1/4" pipe thread. For fuel pressure I ordered thin braided steel fuel line and -4an fittings since the fitting on the fuel gauge AND fuel line fitting at the injection pump happen to be. This ran another $40 or so, but Autometer wanted $59 and up for their kits.

I got my gauges from gofastparts.com, the EGT was $99, fuel pressure & boost were around $40, $39 for pod, and $49 for probe kit (going from memory here).

Hi Sparky10, I drilled a hole in the dash and dropped all the sensor, wire and tubes down through the hole. If you went with electric gauges you might be able to run in that chase between the window and dash I guess. But as far as i'm concerned the gauges are never coming out and there all mechanical soo I drilled the hole. To each his own. Thats my . 02 cents worth lol. Good luck on your install.

paul... i dont recomend the dye that dodge sells. . i purchased it from them for my 99 with agate... when it dried, i was very disappointed. It was like black and white. . ok not that bad. I had to goto my auto paint store and buy the stuff that Dupont sells... only draw-back is that not everyone has access to spray equipment... the match is as close as u can get JB
