What is THE BEST stack combo with the TST?

Well, let me tell you how happy I am that I get to rip down my gauge pillar, take out all my pyro wiring, and uninstall my failed pyro :rolleyes: :{

Thus far, Autometer has given great customer service. I called them when it first started acting up, and they send me a new thermocouple as fast as I could ask for it. Unfortunately, the new probe did NOTHING-- so the guage itself must be bad.

So AM told me to take out the gauge and send it back to them, along with a note explaining what I wanted (new guage of the same kind, different kind, etc. ).

So, now I have some options:

1) Should a get the same guage again? (I don't want to, because I hate the halo lighting)

2) Should I stick with 0-1600º, or should I go with 0-2000º??

3)Should I say "screw autometer" and go with another brand?

(completely out of pocket, which I'm not keen on).

At this point, I'm hoping to "trade in" my Ultralight gauge with one of their newer ones. Here's what I'm looking at:

This is the C2 series, with a blue, "indiglo", type illuumination:

This is the NV, my favorite-- it has a greenish indiglo style lighting:

Then there's the Cobalt series, which has a bluish lighting though the face

Gotta admit, there's something cool about a pyro that goes to 2000!!

So, what would YOU do?

Like it's that hard to take the gauge out. Why take the wiring out?? Get the same type and you could just use the exisiting wiring.

No point for a guage that goes to 2000* if you ask me. The motors gonna melt down before that.

Well, perhaps you are not familiar with the fact that the AM pyro has no way to disconnect the power leads without cutting them. So you have to unfish them. The t-couple leads aren't bad, as you can just disconnect them at the terminals.

Taking the gauge out it easy. It's all the stuff connected to it (and the other guages) that makes it a PITA.

With your current setup Justin, 2000 might not be a bad idea lol

Motors don't melt at 2000 come on. I know of trucks that hit 1800 on a daily basis for a few secs of course lol.

I have the cobalt series pryo & boost... they are nice but hooking them up on the a-pillar comes at a disadvantage - they are quite bright and the dimmer circuit has very little effect on them because they have an LED backlight... other than that my cobalt pyro has about a year under its belt and its working flawlessly. They emit a nice color at night though... just might be a little overpowering for some people

and another thing, the cobalt has a disconnect on the back of the gauge to disconnect the TC and the power wires. .

Hope this helps!!

I've got autometer guages... . mine has 2 terminals on the back with nuts as I recall.

I'd go with what you think looks the best.

Josh

2000degrees is cool... but do you ever Really want to see that?

just cut the power leads that are fixed to the gauge... not very hard to do... i did that when i installed mine as i didn't need all the extra wire cluttering things up. mine are around 10" long now. cut power wire can always be spliced for extra length... ?

I just replaced all my gauges with Isspro, because I wanted a 0-30psi fuel pressure gauge. So, I opted for all new ones and got a 0-1800* pyro, which is nice because I now know what the pyro is at during a pull: 1750* :-laf

I didn't mean to come across as an ***... sorry about that. I'm not very familar with other Pyros other than the Bank's ones I installed in my truck.

If you have EGTs up to 2000* I would think it would do some damage, no? I was under the impression 1350* was as high as I would want to go?

WOW!!

Talk about GREAT customer service.

I sent the gauge back to Autometer. They have elected to replace it-- FOR FREE.

Oh, did I mention that they are giving me an NV series as a replacement for my Ultralight-- FOR FREE????

YEE-HA! I can't wait to get it back in and running!

Isspro should take lessons on Customer Service from Autometer!!! My pyro is off by 150° and there solution is for me to adjust the setting on the amp! I asked them how the hell they thought I was going to do that without putting it on a dyno and they said to take it off and send it back to them for bench testing!! What a collosal PITA!!

I am going to take a good hard look at SPA and Dakota Digital gauges, if I have to go to the trouble of taking this one out I may as well junk the whole set and go with someone else
