On maual & automatic trucks equipped with EXACTLY the same bombs (including turbos)it seems to me that the autos seem to reach higher & have more EGT problems than the 5 & 6 spds. Why is this the case, or do I just need to take another toke on the crack pipe? I am not by any means suggesting that one is better than the other, it just seems from the posts that I have read, that the autos are hitting higher EGT's...

all things being equal, even turbos, an auto could get hotter faster... . because the engine in an auto has to work harder to achieve the same rear wheel HP as a manual..... this is because of a higher percentage of power lost in the transmission.

One quick thought, okay, maybe two,,,

The auto's have transmission coolers, so once the transmission is warm,, there's a we bit more heat flowing back over the motor, and on drag strips, 0-60, Dyno's The auto trucks Don't get a break,

On a manual 5 or 6-speed the motor gets atleast a 1/16th-1/8th second of near no load (Even when power shifting).

The auto's don't ever let up, from 1-2, 2-3 etc. the motor is under constant load, when shifting, instead of the motor getting a break, it actually get's worked harder while the VB changes gears and the TC locks.

My $. 02

What yall think?
