I just wanted to run this by you guys to see if you think it'll work alright for me. I've got a 100 gal. aux tank in the bed and want to plumb it into my factory tank. The way the tank is I have to pull the fuel out of the top. So, I was going to try running a switched high perf inline fuel pump (like a Holley blue) to try to pick the fuel up. I then planned on feeding the output side directly into the factory filler tube. I would probably weld a bung onto the top of the overflow tube.

So, if everything works right I can just flip a switch to turn the inline pump on whenever my factory tank shows low. Then when the fuel guage shows :) again I could turn it off. Maybe it'll take 10 or 15 mins. As an aside I was also going to run a fuel level guage on the aux tank.

Do you all see any problems with this? The only potential problem I can think of is that the pump may not be able to suck up the fuel. Also, there is no way the fuel will continue to siphon through the pump after the pump is switched off is there?

Yes it can siphon. The ideal setup is a manual shutoff valve by the tank to a solenoid valve then to a pump to a filter to the tank.

I believe JCwhitney carries a variety of solenoid valves.

I run a RACOR 690 as the fuel comes out of the OEM tank. Why just filter it going into the OEM tank? Filter it ALL before it goes into the fuel system.

I am toying with the same idea. I think I am going to just do a manual valve. One of th eguys in our FLTDR has a solenoid shuttle valve on a line into his OEM tank and he says it still leaks a little even after he shuttles it closed. I think a good manual ball valve should shut it off.

A pain to stop and open it when the tank gets low, then stop and close it when the tank gets full, but I think overall more fool proof.
