I can't say first hand but I have read here that Aerotanks products are really lacking in quality. There is Transfer flow in northern CA that is suposed to be top notch However they are alot more money. Seems many people have started with Aero only to fill them with concrete and use them for boat anchors and buy a Transfer flow. Because of this I will do it right the first time. :D

I am getting my tank custom built at RDS Aluminum in Florida. They have very good prices and good quality. Shipping from Florida to Louisiana is only $65. You may want to contact them and get a quote, nothing to loose.

Funny you mention RDS, I just bought a 60 gallon aux fuel/toolbox combo from them , I originally was trying to buy this unit from Northerntools and I needed some custom fittings so I asked Northern if they could do it and they said no so I asked for them to fax the build sheet on this unit and guess what? RDS name and phone # was on it . I called RDS , they said they would custom build it for me. Anyway Northerntools has 4 units and great prices ! keep in mind that it is a toolbox/tank combo and its up to you to do the rest.

Does RDS have a website? If so, can someone post a link? I did a search and my fingers mustn't be working well because I came up empty handed.

thanks

I bought an Aero, 45 gal, diamond-plate tank last April and I love it.

I looked at a lot of tanks on-line and went with Aero partly because I could drive to Corona and pick it up, saving freight costs. I bought the DP-45 and this tank has excellent welds & good construction all around. I installed it myself, plumbing a NAPA diesel filter and a selector valve into the line. I mounted a switch and a green LED in my triple gauge pod and wired it so that it will only run while the ignition is on. I use it all the time. I love it. Next to my ATS Trans upgrade, it is the second best thing I have ever done to my truck.

There used to be a shop in Ventura/Somis(?) that builds custom tanks. I can't remember their name but I may have their card in my files at home.

I absolutely LOVE my TransferFlow OEM replacement tank. Check out my post in the Products/Accessories forum about it. Don't have the exact URL off hand or I'd paste that to make it easy.

However, I am not too sure if they would be interested in doing anything custom though... .

Dittos on the quality of Transfer Flow products. I installed a toolbox/tank combo in my truck and did the installation on four other Transfer Flow tanks for family members. They fit and work perfectly. I called Transfer Flow lat week to inquire about a custom tank for my work trucks utility body. I was informed they will do custom tanks but only in quantities of five or more due to the engineering and testing they do.

Sageair,

I wonder if they'd build us an aft axle tank for a short box if we could get 5 or more buyers? I wonder how close the 38 gal would come to fitting? I've been tempted to get it and try to modify it, but I'm afraid the electronics to monitor and transfer the fuel would flake out with a smaller than expected tank maybe??

Just looking for thoughts, suggestions and advice.

Thanks!

Chris

For those of you that plumbed an auxillary tank yourself (instead of TF, Aero, etc) I am curious to see how you did it. I have a 95 gallon tank in the bed but I do not like the way that I have it plumbed and am looking for some new ideas.

Thanks for the help,

Brad
