Hi folks,

If I add an additional fuel pump(possibly FASS 95GPH)between the tank and the stock lift pump(mounted on the engine on my 4. 5), will it push fuel thru the stock lift pump when it dies? Or should I by pass the original with the new one? I know the original unit will quit when I am 500 miles from home. I don't want the DC warranty fix of using the 05 in the tank lift pump. What other kinds of pumps besides the FASS are third generation owners using as backup or replacements, and how are they installing them?

Thanks for any help I receive!

I would like to know also. I don't believe that the stock pump will allow flow once it stops operating. BD has an aux lift pump for $200 and change.

Hello again. Another Idea to to install the Fass pump only kit. Cover both ends of the stock fuel hose (replaced by the Fass kit) and keep the stock pump in the truck with a 5mm allen wrench just in case.

The old "push fuel through a dead stock LP" question has been asked at least 10000 times (I'm not putting you down for asking it, I'm just pointing out that a lot of people are in the same boat). Personally, I think the answer is "no", but I don't know for sure. I suppose I could test it, since I have my original stocker sitting idle in my shop. But I have other things that take precedent over such an experiment.

As for ideas for what to run instead, I did some work here. That might give you a few ideas.

Thats exactly what I did! I think I could change it back in about 10 minutes on the side of the road.

To answere the other question, if your stock pump stops, you cannot push fuel through it (I tried).
