Howdy,

I'd like to know if someone could tell me a good point to pull power off the high beam circuit from? I'm installing a set of aftermarket "off road" driving lights on the front of my truck. After wiring them independently, I've decided that it would be better to have them opperate only when the high beams are on. Where is a good point to pull a trigger signal for their relay from?

Thanks!

Right off the hightbeam wire. Your are fine, it doesn't take much power to run the relay. Mine has worked fine for a while.

You won't actually be "pulling power" from the OEM headlamp system.

The basic wiring for the switched ground wiring on your model year 2001 Ram is shown here: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/user_gallery/displayimage.php?&photoid=15712&width=4

You need to install your relay and connect one side of the trigger coil to a fused source of +12 volts (could be a "key-on" or always on source). The other side of the trigger coil is tied to the RD/OR at either headlight bulb. Selecting high beams will complete the trigger coil circuit, closing the "switch" in the relay.

Have fun!
