Well, I am kind of in a bind. I want to upgrade the ol' fuel capacity to something closer to that of a B-52 bomber. Problem is, I have a 4x4 short bed 6 speed. I need to keep all my bed space. I also want to keep the spare cozy right where it is.
So, that pretty much narrows it down to a replacement tank. Problem is, the biggest I can see for my truck that meets my needs is only 40 Gallons (it's from Aero tanks).
Why would I spend all that money to upgrade from 33 gallons to 40 gallons when I could just carry a Jerry can??? Sheesh.
Why can't someone make an armored, reinforced fuel tank that goes outside the frame rails? That way if you get in a wreck, you would have to thrash the frame to damage the tank (and it still wouldn't rupture.
Is this the DATELINE NBC effect from the "sidesaddle" gas tanks GM used to use?
