On my (new to Me) 2016 2500 there are 5 AUX switches below the exhaust brake and tow haul switches and I cannot find where the output wires for these switches are so I can use them. The switches all have a LED on them that goes on and off when you activate the switch. Anyone can help me here--- Thanks

You should have a bag of wiring for the switches under the back seat or in floor compartment.

The utility center is under the hood on the drivers side. I "THINK" they are on far right side of pic directly above battery and right of master cylinder.

That was quick!!! Gives me all I need to know about using and programing the AUX switches. Thanks to all contributors here, this is why I am a subscriber to TDR

Since you are the 2nd owner......was the wiring package still in your truck somewhere?

gsbrock, not that I have found yet but I will be looking soon and possibly I will have to find or purchase that.

Yeah, my '18 tradesman came the attached.

Just cleaned it out of my truck today.

Clockwise from the Manual, tailgate delete harness plug, 2.5" to 2" ball mount. And the aux switch kit.

Zoom in of part number on my bag.

I'm sure you can find them easily from folks who don't use them.

maybe I will whine a little out here and someone will sell me one for half price, at OEM mopar parts they are about $48. What is the tailgate delete harness? If I need to take the tailgate off, do I have to have this to fake the PCM or body control module out??

I dont have a tailgate (well have it in the garage) so I actually climbed under there today to see if I needed this thing, its just a blank connector that will protect the pins, they give you 2 types.

But my harness was tied in to my lift gate some how by the upfitter. There was a smaller 2 pin plug with no blank in it back there.

Both sides

You can see they give both sides. As they plug into each other.

I really like the aux switches on my Ram 5500. I'm using as follows:
1. Powers CB radio.
2. tied into truck/towbody backup lights
3. towbody spotlights 45° angle from bed
4. Reserved onboard continuous duty air compressor.
5. Reserved aux cameras, front and rear

It's nice these can be custom configured to normal open, normal closed, ignition, always hot, non locking push button.

Cheers, Ron

Another quick question, there group of 3 wires coming from the wire loam behind the spare tire and in front of the rear bumper on the right side of center, there are three wires coming out of this extension from the main wire group just hanging there and these wires (I will pass along the colors) have the ends covered (probably dipped in something, not heat shrink) and they are at least 14 ga wire. I was wondering if anyone has figured out what they are and are any of them switched/hot or what? I have not got a voltmeter on them yet. I will photo them and pass along.

I had to install the jumper harness under the dash to power them up on my '15.

Are they for the bed light options or add-on?

They are for options like flat beds, snow plows and such.

The dealer told me they were already wired but my parking light wire under hood doesn’t have any power with the lights on, so a jumper would make sense.

Ron,
How do you have your Reserved aux cameras hooked up? Do you have them tied into the stock screen or do you have a separate screen?

Thanks,
Matt

Yep, but he was asking about wiring at the rear by the bumper. That's were my Mopar bed lights and switch plugged into.
I do know what the auxiliary switches are for and how to use and program them. Also the upfitter module.

I was talking about the same wiring harness he was. All trucks have wiring ran front and rear from the power distro center under the hood. It appears to take a jumper harness to activate those wires. They are detailed in this pdf. There should be more than 3 of them thou.

The bed lights/switch is a separate harness and not there on all trucks. I've only seen the bed light harness factory installed (without the LED bed light option) on Laramie and higher trucks. I've looked at a couple SLT and Big Horn's and none of them have the LED bed light harness installed. The switch was only an option in '18+.

Bubble bursting time! Lol my 2018 tradesman came with the bed lighting wiring. Was plug and play other than the sales code change to activate them. So is he talking about upfitter connections or the bed lighting connections or both? Or maybe neither. But there could be a chance he is seeing bed lighting connectors. I'm just saying it could be bed lighting is all.
