Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Aux trans cooler install

I'm installing an aux trans cooler aft of the transmission, removing the oil to water ( which is actually a heater, cause when I removed the water lines, I had to drive 300 miles and noticed my trans fluid never got above a 110 * ) anyway, the steel ines are bent fwd to accommodate the OTW cooling lines, and I don't want to loop the rubber hoses to point aft, so I was wondering if anybody has ever used copper line to replace the steel return line, I think it may be easier to use copper, ( easier to find also) it only needs to be about 24" long to go from return on trans and across to passenger side, then bent aft, Also does anyone know what size the fitting is ( Flare nut ? ) on the return line @ the transmission ?

I'm interested to see how this works for you. I'd like to do it myself as I live in FL and don't go to places that would require a trans heater...

Conventional wisdom has always said to not use copper tubing on vehicles because it can work-harden and crack from vibration.

Thanx CF, I'll see if I can do it anyway, if the flare fit is possible as I haven't taken it apart yet. I'm installing twin turbos and may have to relocate it, if so I'll put a by- pass on it so if I need it in xtreme cold I can always open the flow to the exchanger, I 'm also concerned if it leaks it could destroy my transmission. It's definetly not needed in warm climes.
