I looked Thru the search site & found much info regarding aux fuel tanks. I looked up at the fuel fill ,vent hoses area where I guess you could?tap in for the aux fuel tank for transfer. What dangers can you get in here? Can you mess up your main tank pump? Can you get air in the system?I would like about 50/60 extra gal of fuel, & the simplest most foolproof system to accomplish this. Anybody do this to their gen 3 truck? Or is this a have it done job? Thanks,Pat

I found my transfer-flow (98 gallons) on Ebay (for just over $300) and got it for a song (about $550 for tank, shipping, new trax, and misc. installation parts). Installed it myself and am loving life. The tank installs into the fill-neck vent tube on the main tank. As for problems, mine is transfered using a transfer pump that is controlled by the trax system. So I don't have any problems. If you were to do it manually, then you'd have to pay close attention to what you were doing so as not to over-fill the main tank. Gravity fills aren't a hot idea either as you risk over-filling (again, if you're not paying attention) and if you roll over, then you can have fuel spill out easier. Can you mess up the main tank pump (there isn't one, it's a lift pump)? Probably not. Unless you let garbage get into the fuel system. Can you get air into the system? Again, not likely. Not unless you do something stupid.

Is this a "have it done" job? Not really. While there are several good manufacturers of auxilliary fuel systems out there. There are a few members who have made thier own systems and safely operate them daily. It all depends on how much you want to spend. The more the money, the better the system. You may even find a used one (like I did). Good luck.
