Accidental overflow of the main tank can be cured with an inline normally closed solenoid valve. Controlled either by a toggle switch or one of the Aux inputs many 4th gens have.

I've used a 95 gallon RDS gravity fed tank since 2011 first in a Chevy, now in a 2016 Ram, no problems what so ever with it overfilling, check valve does it's job. The Ram had a full metal filler tube that had to be cut out for the filler kit, no factory hose on this one.

My 2015 does have a stock over fill vent. When I picked up my truck I and seen it didn't have a fuel cap I bought one there at the dealer. My 04 had a gravity. On this truck I had a tank made by the fuelbox. It was a fuel tank toolbox combo. What I had them do different was put the fuel cap in the box so it would be locked up. It took longer then it should have but works just the way I wanted it to. But what I was after was the auto fill set up. It works like the transflow setup but munch more affordable. And the gauge plugged right into the stock wire harness to monitor the fuel level in the stock tank. It uses a paulis pump so it moves fuel slowly. When your stock tank drops to 3/8 it automatically fills it up to 3/4 then shuts off until low again. It has a full gauge for the tank and you can turn the pump on manual or turn the hole system off. When I installed it I did a post on it a few years back.
