2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Auxiliary tank fuel level sending unit?

Hi All,

I have been trying to find an universal sending unit to go in my aux tank that will read thought the dash gauge for my 98 Dodge Ram. I know the resistance needs to be 20 ohms full and 220 ohms empty. The aux tank is 18" deep. I am about to order a factory sending unit and use its resistor to make my own. I am going to cut my fuel lines by the tank and put a 6 port valve in. The valve also switches the sending units over to the tank that you are feeding out of. If any body has the answer it would be great to hear from you about ware to find it. I tried datcom I emailed there tech support and they had units for ford and chevy but not dodge. I have looked at Jcwhitney too.

I have an aero tank and the gauge sucks so if its the same it will be off by allot. I use a tank stick that I cut down it has inch marks on it and I stick the tank and find out how much fuel is still in the tank. You can find tank sticks at any gas station by the tank fills they are left by drivers and station owners just snap off the end and you have the same thing. I know its not convenient to stop and stick the tank. But I have yet to find any aux tank sender to be accurate

I have tried both aero tanks and JcWhitney web sites. The sending unit from amazon that I have seen on there will support a separate gauge in the cab. If I have to go that way I can but would rather use the dash gauge.

If you plumb your system so that your aux tank feeds into the main tank you won't need a tank gauge. My Transfer Flow aux tank has worked that way for approaching ten years now. I've never seen a need for a tank gauge.

Mine is plumbed that way HB but I still like to know how much is in there. Now I just turn on the pump for a min. and it get the siphon going and then wait until the truck gauge starts moving it works I guess.

You could try Mike Shuman at www.auxtank.com (940-686-2391). He should be able to tell you where he gets his in tank sending units. The unit in my tank was adjustable for the size of my tank. He set it up to read on my dash gauge. It switches electrically when I flip the switch to change from one tank to the other.

I ordered one from Mike at auxtank.com on Thur. I have herd of to many spills or main tank failures for me I like being able to select what tank I went to feed from.
