After careful consideration of input from users we have decided to turn avatars back on. We are however very aware of issues this may cause for dial up users and want you to keep in mind that if you do not like avatars you have the option of disabling them by pulling the discussion forums menu down to "user control panel" and then click on "edit options" and about halfway down you'll see the "thread display options" and in the first section in there you can uncheck the box that says "show avatars" and then click on "save changes" at the bottom of the screen.
Please keep in mind that the following has been added to the site guidelines as they relate to avatars:
This will be strictly enforced and there will be no right of appeal if you choose your avatar poorly so step carefully.
To upload an avatar pull down the discussion forums menu to "user control panel" and then click on edit avatar on the left side menu.

Avatars: Custom avatars are allowed however keep in mind that:
1. Avatars must be suitable for general audiences in terms of sex, violence, and profanity. In other words, if it would be inappropriate for your mother or your child to view in a public forum, it will be deemed inappropriate.
2. Anything considered inappropriate by ny Moderator will be deleted and that TDR Member will not be able to post avatars ever again in the history of the website. No kidding.
This will be strictly enforced and there will be no right of appeal if you choose your avatar poorly so step carefully.
