Avatars

[Spooled-up]

I remember -way back when- we used to be able to have an avatar. Would it be possible to have them again? Most of the forums I visit have them. Why were they removed?

Avatars were removed initially to lower the loads on the server - we were having major server issues at the time. Once they were removed we discovered that they were using a significant amount of bandwidth - at the time it lowered our bandwidth used by about 30% as I recall. It was determined that the cost wasn't worth the benefit of them.

Reading your post, it seems that the problems were in the past and that they would be resolved with the current system. Has there been any thought to putting them back up?



Just curious.



Maybe a poll would be in order to see how many would be interested in having them if it wouldn't degrade the system.
