First one died @ 98000 + miles, replacement lasted ten (10) days. I would have NEVER know the second one died w/o the FP guage. Did the high $$$ (FASS) fix. Hopefully the end of the problem. If you do not have the FP guage, at least get into the habit of listening when you turn the key. Not a 100% indication the FP is at full potential but... better than nothing.
At 8,000 miles original died, 2,000 mile later second one died, currently 3rd has 14,000 with no signs of a problem, but if I do, I'll be getting RASP'd.
57000 miles 4 lift pumps, last one 7000 miles, thank goodness tdr was there to make me get a FP gauge, I can change them out in 20 mins flat now I am looking at being rasped
At 89K I discovered that the LP was bad. Up till that point, I had no FP guage (that has now been changed and I agree that this is a MUST have for any CTD owner). I can only wonder how long the LP was dead as I had just returned from a 4500 mile trip while towing 9000 lb 5th wheel and had experienced some performance problems. I currently have approx 2000 on the new LP but will be ordering a RASP within the next month. Not going to wait until it fails as we all know that is not a matter of if it will fail, but rather when
40k, 55k, 65k... then put on the Air Dog fuel preparator system. 20 psi and I don't worry about it any more. It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN the lift pump will go. JUNK! I purchased the DC combo for reliability and the new fuel delivery system (Air Dog) took away all unnecessary doubt.
