GCP,
No; I have been trouble free since I deleted and I would do it again on my 08. Now if I had a 2013 truck I would not delete the truck. I think with anything new there are teething pains and the 07. 5 and early 08's trucks had them. Since then the programming for the emission system has been change to agree with the majority of the driving style that people are doing.
As far as cost to me the Smarty S67 was $690 and the 5” Turbo back muffler system from MBRP was $637. This is for a 5. 9L Crew Cab Long Bed truck which will fit a 6. 7L Mega Cab perfectly. The EGR block off plates for the EGR was around $50, the EGR cooler is still on the truck. This helps keep the truck warmer in the winter, I know guys who have deleted the cooler and the truck will run cooler then with it on. These are 2008 dollars by the way.
Another point I like to make is the Smarty S67 or JR will work with either being deleted or not being deleted. The only difference is the software that you download to install on the Smarty so you are not out any money on a programmer.

Thanks Jim for the info. I've been very happy with my stock '09, but, like you suggest, most of the issues seem to have been worked out by the time my truck rolled off the line.

Just a month ago, my stock 2009 3500 with stock tires and after replacement of the DPF, EGR and CCV. And new air cleaner, took a 835 mile freeway drive from Salt Lake City to Portland, OR. (1977 mile round trip)... I have a larger 60 gal tank that uses the stock pick-up and other than potty and a meal stop, by the time I got to Portland, the overhead was reading 20 mpg. . then it did a regen and went down. . overall, when I continued the trip to washington, and went over Snowqualamie and The blue mountains in oregon for the return trip, Hand calculate was around 16. 5-17 average. . The first part was like 18 as there was a lot of flat at the end of the leg. I guess this is the best the truck is going to be able to do.

The DPF had plugged i assume to a sensor issue that stopped the regens and then it plugged. the EGR was replaced per convenience, so with new air cleaner and CCV filter, and the truck at 38K miles, the mileage i got will be the best.

I remember your thread when this happened. This incident has pushed me into the plan of purchasing an Edge CTS to monitor regenerations, among other functions. Glad everything worked out for you.

I recently was in the market for a quad cab to replace my 2005 regular cab. Because my 2005 reg cab had been so reliable and trouble free I was thinking I'd want to go that route again and find a 2005 quad cab with lower mileage. Then one day I stopped by my local dealership and asked one of the service managers if he was buying a used Ram 2500 if he would go with a 5. 9 or the new 6. 7. He laughed and said the 5. 9 every day. So I bought a 2005 with the 5. 9 and 67,000 miles and get between 17-19 unloaded on the highway fully stock and staying under 72 mph. Same as my reg cab.

2008 Ram 2500 ST, long bed, 2WD 6. 7 Cummins, 3:73GR, large Ranch Hand front bumper, may be the biggest one they make so its heavy and bulky, I pull a 28ft bumper pull camper mabey 8 times a year, otherwise just drive to and from work 25 miles round trip and run errands.
