Empty nets 17 to 20. 5 combined. Worst ever was 15 towing 9k in bad traffic. Generally at 20 on long trips if I drive 65-70. That is with fueling set for 480hp.

15 to 16 city, 17 to 18 highway, 11 to 12 towing, 9 was the worst and 19. 1 driving like a 90 year old woman was the best.

From about 30,000 miles on I could set a clock by the 18mpg I got empty. On one trip I managed an even 20 for some reason. Loaned the truck out right after it turned over 100k miles an my buddy brought it back and commented on the great mileage. It's now at 110,000 and has gotten 20-21 for the last 10k. Guess it's finally broken in. :D

I just averaged 14mpg pulling an empty 24' enclosed, averaging about 65-80 mph, sometimes drafting semi's (through Texas, NM, AZ, and CA). About 17 mpg city empty, 21mpg highway empty (very heavy foot)

I just ran over to Maine and back last week 500-600 miles. I got 21 mpg. Trucks got 114K now. I run along at roughly 2100 rpm/68 mph. It's all stock with a low profile shell on back. I can put 1500 - 2500 on a month for work. All in all I'm pleased.

average mileage?

I purchased a 1998 2500 24v. 3/4 ton 4x4 3. 50 rear end long bed 3mos. ago. The main reason I bought it was because it had only 38,500 miles on it and looked like new. It had oversize tires on it, 285/75/16 and I noticed that when I went by a radar screen I was 6-8 m. p. h. off. I had the local Dodge dealer recalabrate my spdo. and now I am getting 16 m. p. h. no load and 12 m. p. h. pulling a 8k 5th. wheel. My friends who have simular Dodge diesels say they are getting 20 to 21 m. p. h. no load and 18 m. p. h. loaded. I don't push the truck and I notice that at 60 m. p. h. my rpm is 1500. Is something wrong or is this normal and my friends are feeding me a line? (first time logging on)

When I had my 01 (bought new) 2500 QC SB 4x4 Auto 3. 54 I averaged about 19 mpg over the 22k mi that I owned it. Never towed but often had light loads (2-4k) in the bed and no it wasn't the Mrs ;)

Your friends are feeding you a line and probably using instantaneous readings off the fuel computer.

My truck is the same as your except for duals. I am getting the same exact mileage you are, hand calc because I don't have a fuel computer.

My truck has 235 tires on stock rims and a 4. 10 axle with anti-slip.

The best I ever got was 16. 7 :(

But that is not calculating the 285's either :)

I'm happy, when i wanna drive like grandpa, I jump on the 2K5 harley deluxe

Mpg

The best I've gotten 22 mpg empty over 3 mountain passes, Denver to Western Slope in Colorado @ speed limit.

Towing 13/15 mpg 5K trailer over same route.

I'm pleased with the milage!

You did not say what transmission you have, however stick or auto should be able to get close to 20 MPG if driven easy. I have an auto transmission 4:10 gears and 265 tires and at 65 can get over 19. At 70 and "driving it" I get 18 Plus. Do a search on "cleaning IAT" sensor. SNOKING

Also check this IAT

I think they are feeding you a line also. Currently I have stock tires on. This may change a bit as I have just ordered my snow tires (Bridgestone Blizzak w965's - 245's). I understand they are a bit stickier due to the softer rubber compound so this may affect my mileage some. 3 years ago we moved from Seattle to NH. Truck, Subaru wagon on a trailer and all that we could pack in both vehicles, full fuel and occupants weighed 16K. We averaged 14mpg at 65mph all the way across(3300miles). I get about 16 - 18 bumping around town. One thing I always do is use the cruise as soon as I can. Set it and forget it. Just sit back, crank up the tunes and enjoy the ride.

My '01. 5 with 3. 54 gears and 315 mud tires gets between 18 and 20 depending on amount of in town/freeway driving mix. Got 22 driving up to elk camp this year pulling a tent trailer (hardly knew it was even there). This with an EZ and straight pipe 3" exhaust. Now put on a BHAF and no real change in mileage (but we are running winter fuel now so... ... ... ..... ?). These are hand calculated, adjusted for tire size mpg numbers.

:( Man!... . listening to everyone, I feel I'm getting the royal rip job . The best I ever got was 13 empty 9 pullin a fifth. now that winters here I'm lucky for 10. With diesel at $2 a whack... . trust me my foot is out of it. :{

Your MPG sound a little low. You might want to check how tight your boost clamps are. They should be at 95 INCH LBS There are 9 clamps all together.
