Avitars

I think we should be able to download a picture of our truck under our screen name, like we do on the Chevy Truck website. Just a suggestion

We use to have avitars, and if you click on some people's profile, then you can see what it use to be. I know that they took them from under our screen names because they discovered that those pics were taking 85% or so of the time to download a page once you clicked on it. Because of this, it was decided that they would never make a comeback, and I'm sure they still feel the same way.



Not trying to knock you as I like the idea also, just telling you why we don't have them anymore since no one else has.

Andrew is basically correct except it wasn't 85%. Avatars take up a lot of space and increase page download times considerably. They also added to the amount of bandwidth use significantly. I can't recall the exact numbers but our bandwidth usage went down something like 40% when we eliminated avatars. We also have to take into consideration the needs of users on slower connections where the size of a page makes a huge difference. They will not be coming back.
