Ok,

So I am looking at upgrading the auto in my 99. I have not decided what to put in yet but no matter what there will be more torque going to the rear axle. Both forward, and reverse with an exhaust brake. I already regret getting the auto on so many levels. Yet another issue I have thought about is the Dana 70. I know that this is an undersized pinion and I am wondering if it will stand up to the new amount of torque with the new trany? Especially when I start to upgrade the engine which will surely happen... :D

Has anyone had trouble with their Dana 70's after an upgrade?

Oh, or the transfer case? I guess I am starting to worry about how far I can go with this truck and whether it is worth it to keep putting money in it?

Thanks again,

I just had a DTT transmission put in with 275 injectors and an edge box that was already in and I just broke an axle shaft. It broke right at the start of the splines. But from what I have read, heard, or seen, nobody has any problems with there axle. The only other info I can throw out is that I am having a hell of a time finding new axle shafts (not from a dealer). I have had several suppliers tell me that they are on "National Backorder"?!!? I don't know if this means there are more breakages occurring, or if inventories are low. Either way I'm sittin'. If anybody has a line on axle shafts please PM me.
