Axle Seal Leak Drivers Side Questions

I have fluid on the inside of the trum it failed inspection today becuse of the leak. I have 2 thousand miles left under my warrantee but don't have a reliable dealer to do the work. I can't even get the dealer to get me the inter seal they say I only have a gasket. Anyhow once again I'm look to you guys with the knowlede. Does anyone have a part number for the seal? Also does anyone know if I need specials tools to do this job? Any help or assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Could be brake fluid? If it is the seal, you should be able to get it from a NAPA store, if they don't have it the can usually get it overnight. There is a big socket to fit the nut on the akle housing but the job can be done without it. bg

You need to touch and smell the fluid... if it's brake fluid you'll need to either rebuild and/or replace the wheel cylinder... if its axle fluid you'll just need a seal... .

This is not a hard project as BG suggests, but it does take some skill and the ability to get the wheel off the ground and safe before you do the work. .
