Pulled my rear tires to start putting on my airbags today and noticed the driver rear axle seal leaking. Just turned 36,000. Am I still under warranty? Any other have there seals leak? I had a nightmare with my 2000, couldn't keep good seals on the truck, are the AA's having the same problems as the Dana's?

Same thing with my buddy's 2500 HEMI. His 10. 5 AAM axle is leaking. The dealer didn't have the seal in stock so they gave him a GM loaner while they wait for and replace the seal. I thought the switch to AAM was the answer to the leaky Dana's.

I had the same on my 2500 4x4 driver's side rear axle. Was in the shop for about a week as they were waiting for the replacement seal. That was about a month ago and I haven't had any problems since.

Have you changed the axle lube? If so what are you currently using? Casey

Mine too! Both sides are leaking. I have 23,500 mi. Be sure and get your parking brake pads replaced too. Mine are soaked and don't work.

Leakage problems are fairly common with synthetic lubes, especially the light ones like 75-90 (the grade AA uses). I have had no problems with the premium dino Lubrication Engineers 607.

I am using amsoil 2000 75w-140. I never heard of premium dino Lubrication Engineers 607 could someone give me more information on this, maybe I will need to go this way.

FWIW - I had some very irritating leaking pinion seal problems - or so I thought. I ended up replacing 2 pinion seals and 1 pinion yoke as well as checking the vent hose to see if it was not plugged. The new yoke and second seal noticeably reduced the leak to a moderate weep. Then at 15,000 miles a few weeks ago I replaced the front and rear diff fluid with Mobile 1 75W90, and the weeping soon ended.

I bought my truck last February when there was a lot of concern and confusion in regards to proper AAM axle fill levels and as a result had the selling dealer top up the differentials up to the fill hole. This time around I refilled the rear diff to the recommended 1/4" below the fill hole and all is now well. Knock on wood...

I forgot I had even replied in this thread before. I found it while searching for axle seal leaks.

Mine is now leaking on the driver's side rear axle. Dealer to replace tomorrow morning along with two TSBs for PCM connections and a transmission cooler line.

I wonder what it would be like to just buy a truck and forget where the dealership is.
