I believe your seals would have been leaking anyway. Mine is filled up almost to the bottom of the axle tube (top line on dipstick) and with the MagHytek cover this is 2 gallons:--) . No leaks. The speced fill level is (I think) 3/4" BELOW the fill hole, and the seals.
