I am interested in putting a posi in my truck and was wondering if anyone new what spline I would need since I have seen a few used dana 80 posi's for sale?? Also does anyone know what spline my dana 60 up front would need??? Thanks Seth

So It Is True!!!

I was just reading the Qand A in Four Wheeler (or was it Peterson's) and they stated that in the early 90's Dodge switched to a 1. 4inch 32 splined Dana 70 (vs the original 1. 5inch 35 splined Dana 70). Does anyone know why they did this??? It seems really stupid to downgrade the streingth of an axle while you are increasing the power of the engine.

Additionally, the Dana 80 in both the 2500 and 3500 seem to be Hybrids. Ford is the only one using a true 1. 6inch 37 splined Dana 80. Again, why???

So then, what is a true Dana 80? I thought it was a 37 splined 1. 6inch axle with metric 8 lug bolt pattern. What is the axle diameter and spline count in a 2500 with the Dana 80 hybrid?

Thanks

Ron

ps. Are people breaking their Dana 70's, (ie, the bomber's)???
