I was under my '97 the other night and noticed a strange mark on my drivers side axle u-joint. On closer inspection I saw that the u-joint was barely hitting the grease fitting on the upper king pin. I checked the wheel bearing, no play there, got no movement from the king pins or anything else out there. Has anybody else seen this? What's the fix? I'd like to fix this soon before it breaks the fitting off in there.

One typical solution is to replace the zerk with a plug for normal operation and only install the zerk when applying grease.
 
I did think of that, but there isn't much room to get my fingers in there very well! lol I was concerned because it had never hit before, and then I couldn't find anything wrong.
