B&W companion : Theft Prevention

Doesn't it stink that one has to worry about theft prevention.



I'm worried about someone just lifting out the top part of my B&W companion hitch. I'm thinking about drilling the holes in the 2 pins that hold the top to the bottom out a little and putting a lock through them. I already use a lock on the handle/pin release.



Even with the above, if soneone wanted to take the whole thing (disc rupture) they could just undo the top bolt and 4 u-bolts... .



Oh well, Hopefully the chain I bought will deter most people from walking away with my 2 honda eu2000i's.....



Maybe I'm just paranoid but I do like my stuff to be there in the morning when I wake up... .

Camping people are mostly quite honest souls. Just have to watch out for those people passing through.

Well in 2 weeks I'm headed from Texas to Clemson, SC. Going there for the football game and will be leaving the trailer and gear alone for 6 or so hours while I'm at the game. Yup, I don't worry about fellow campers but people looking for an easy oppurtunity. I've heard about people loosing their generators at nascar events.



Where I tailgate at Texas A&M we never had a problem with theft for years. Last year someone stole a jumbo cooler. Big issue was all our beer was in there. Oh well...



Good thing my wife doesn't worry like me, she says I worry enough for the both of us...



I'll have to post a picture of the base of my companion. I had they line-x guys put line-x on it and paint it the same color as my bed/truck. Looks great. Didn't get the top part done as it has too many moveing parts etc...

I need to get another Glock sticker for the new truck back window, make them think twice whether they feel lucky or not.

I'd like to put a "Protected by Smith and Wesson" on my truck, but I think that would only encourage people to break in and grab my gun



Your TDR sticker is also about 6 inches higher than mine. .



You would notice a difference when you were backing up as I have the g56. No complaints about it yet but then again I've only got 2k miles on the truck. I've also only got the 2wd. My first pickup and I couldn't be happier. I got the rear mat with the cummins logo (from geno's) looks sweet.



Darn digital camera. I'll have to get a pic of the bed and hitch. I got it line-xed and then sprayed with the nasson paint and it matches the truck about 90%. Way better than the plain black I was looking at getting.

I had speed linner in the 01 & it held up pretty good. I havn't made up my mind as to spray this one yet. Would like to see pics of your line-x. I did drill one of the pins out & put in a small pad lock. I heard of a couple went into a restaurant in Arizona & came out & their hitch was gone. If they want it bad enough they will get it.

With thieves it's kinda like the outrunning a bear story. You dont have to be the fastest, just faster than the slowest. So making it harder to steal is worthwhile as long as you can live with the results. I usualy store my hitch in the underside of the 5er when its not being used, but it sure is a pain to lift that bad boy out.

Yep - group camped next to us at Talladega one year had this painted up generator in John Deere green with decals and all. When they got back from the race Sunday afternoon, John Deere generator was gone. Maybe it thought it was a tractor... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....
