Towing a travel trailer in snow

Factory receiver hitch max weight

I need to get a GN hitch and was wondering if this was the best way to go? (The turnover ball one)

Is it pretty easy to install?

Thanks! :)

I have the Drawtite remove-a-ball, no problems easy install... I do like the B&W Turnover though... wish I'd seen it sooner might have gone that way. .

The frame mounts are pretty much the same. . just be careful drilling the frame on drivers side... brake lines, fuel tank etc...

If you have access to a lift use it otherwise jack the rear up support frame with stands and lower axle... also helps to remove spare for headroom...

I have a B&W and it is fairly easy to install. Very nice product and a flat truck bed is always nice when you don't need to use the hitch.

Good hitch

my hitch has been in and out of 5 trucks still works good bolted in with no problems evertime no drilling exept for the hole in bed only thing needed to be modified was the side plate do to the overload brackets had to cut the side plates 2 to3 inches shorter and had to redo the pull handle once rusted up and seized in holder.

P. S. use anti-sieze on all bolts and pull handle in case you want to remove later

I really like my B&W too!

It is the best hitch other than an air ride that I know of now. I used to have an Atwood fold down in my 2000 CTD. I chose the B&W because I can use the Companion 5th wheel hitch or use it as a GN. It comes apart in 2 pieces very easily so you can lift it. I routinely take mine out when I park my 5er so I can have the full flat bed. I put a Roll Top tonneau cover on so we can have some security when not pulling the Jayco 3610.

It is true that the B&W Turnover uses existing holes in the frame for mounting and you do not have to drill the holes. Hint is to rotate the tires at the same time, makes it easier fot torqing the bolts. Also drop the spare tire for easier access. The best GN that I have ever used.

How does the companion 5th wheel hitch work for you? I just saw a picture the other day in a magazine, does it JUST use the square shank to secure the hitch no other bolts to bed? Is that enough the u-bolts around the shank?

Thanks guy's, I guess I will go with the B&W.

I downloaded their installation instructions off of their website and it seems very easy to install.

I have the Companion 5th Wheel Hitch. The 5th wheel hitch uses a square tubing with U-bolts for securing, that ivserts into the same place the gn is at. It is very strong. The jaws for latching to the king pin are 1" thick. I traveled to Powder River, Wy. this past summer pulling a 30ft. Hitch Hiker and had no problems. In my opinion it is very high quality.

I am a happy customer.
