B&W Companion

Guys I know I'm pulling this post from a few months but HEY I am using the search!

Just installed my turnover ball and working on the companion hitch. Spoke with B&W and they said to 1. Torque the top bolt to 40lbs and then the 4 nuts on the 2 u-bolts to 90lbs.

This seems like a pain, so I think I will be leaving the hitch in the truck more than I thought.

What are your feeling on the top bolt and side bolts wearing out from the stress of being re-torqued?

What settings do you have your 2 arms in? My 5th wheel is at 46 inches and I have a 2wd 05 truck. They said to torque the arms to 90lbs.

Seems unusual that all of these are torqued to 90lbs and most of the bolts on the turnover ball hitch were torqued to 80lbs and some to 60lbs.

Thanks all!

Dave

I do not put mine in often, but I do torque according to directions. The hitch system offers enough flexibility for me, that I do not mind that extra step. When I received the 5th wheel hitch, I did not get all of the parts and pieces. B&W was great about this, and sent me a whole other set of bolts. I keep them in my toolbox just in case. I have noticed a little wear on the top bolt. I have mine set all the way down, and all the way back due to 4X4 short bed.
