B&W Turnover Ball Hitch

Is there any reason to install the "safety chain" brackets, on this hitch, if you don't use the gooseneck hitch? I plan on just using the Companion 5th Wheel Hitch accessory, and safety chains are not required for 5th wheel hitches...

A friend of mine just installed his without the safety chain brackets for the same reason, he doesn't use a gooseneck. No problem, nice clean install.
