I had a KSB-1-2 which had the tow-wheel w/ the #2 exhaust wheel (smallest wheel). Ken in Phoenix builds the B1's that Piers' sells. I'm just wondering what the pdr b1-tow manual has for compressor and exhaust wheels and also what housing?

Ken did tell me he could put an even smaller compressor wheel on than the tow-wheel, but he said I'd lose so much top end it wouldn't be worth it.

The next step for me is proably going to be a KS housing w/ the standard exhaust wheel (instead of the small one) and the tow compressor wheel. Ken claims more top end then what I have now w/ the standard housing and #2 wheel, with only slightly less spool.

Hey now, we're better than that! ;) We keep on top of PM's and selling stuff, etc. We don't intend to confuse anyone, and most of the time it's just me posting on here, so nobody gets confused... . unfortunately Luke has been having some trouble w/ his pickup the last couple of days (can anyone say new head-gasket?) and so he'll be on here a lot more in the next week or so figuring out what all he needs to have done while he has his head off... course, that's gonna take place mostly in the 12v forum, where I feel lost and confused when I happen to venture into it.

UPdate.

Robert (TNfarmer) dyno'ed the truck with essentially the same mods as mine-- he made 401/967. I made 473/1040.

His 98 Comp/DD3/B1

Mine 00 UFM/DD3/HX35/40

Something is amiss.

And it's a cool truck too. 3500 flatbed full of tools/welders/compressor--a regular 6x6 workshop.

temp. boost. speed are all determined by your right foot--no matter what box you have--the power level adjustment should help in towing---

you either have a blown gasket(intake, grid heater exhaust manifold), cracked intercooler, something going on with a boot or the wastegate is opening on you--make sure it's bolted down, if you have that ability---to bad you can't find someone with your year truck and switch out the box to see if it's the box---do you have the box setup right---is it on 5/5 when you adjust it up to the high setting----good luck---chris

Fuel pump wire tapped? May be a silly question but you never know who does and who doesnt for their own reasons. I have basically the same setup. I hit around 42 pounds of boost and egt's go up to 1380F. Never had my truck on the dyno though :{

i know that the wire is tapped. i think that he has a busted intercooler. the truck has about 185k miles on it. had been run pretty hard before robert got it. we'll find it before april 30th.

FWIW, I have gotten two Drag Comps in a 2 week span that had faulty programming. All the levels are roughly the same. Max boost on level one is 47 psi and 53 psi on 5x5. My original Drag UFM would have max boost of 30 on level one and 57 on 5x5. Thanks to Lenny at DDP cause he is going to swap out this junk Drag Comps for a drag UFM which is what I should have recieved in the first place.

Robert

I can pull 48 psi boost on my KSB-1B with PM3 set on 8; EGT's = 1350. With Wildcat Max Flow can pull fuel pressure down to 9.

All these numbers are with much smaller injectors than yours.

update on this situation. robert found his boost leak(s). his boots were swelling like balloons and he said that just about anywhere you wanted to point to on his intercooler was leaking. all of the parts will be here friday. and we are gonna fix it on sat am. so hopefully we'll have a good update on sunday or monday. later, nick

oh yeah, he upgraded to a drag comp.

He needs to get the FP from the inlet to the VP-44. I don't believe that it'll hold positive pressure with the stock fuel delivery. (oh, but a tapped banjo or other fitting would be necessary and 98,99's don't come with those)

At least I think that's what he told me. Plenty of pressure measured at the filter.

Fixing the leaks won't change the fuel side-----but it should make him smile a bit. 60-70 HP worth!

Back to the fuel, mine would zero the gauge on 4 and 5 with stock fuel fittings.

enjoy.

Robert

Just curious... What kind of boost are you getting with no leaks?

Wade: Did I read your profile correctly... You picked up over 50 hp going to a Dodgzilla Turbo??? With DD2's I only gained 22 hp going from HY-35 to a KSB-1B (on a DynoJet). Would have expected our hp gain to be more similar???
