I was pretty happy with the EGTs of my truck until recently when I went for more power by putting a set of 150hp injectors. The results were ugly. With Comp box off, level 1 and level 5, I could peg my Pyro at 1600 WOT and the smoke never cleared. The turbo seemed to be doggy and my max boost was 45psi. I had a HP only Dyno test done with this combo that refelcted the injector increase. Dyno results were 368 (injectors only) and 430 (comp on 5). The low boost numbers explains the uncontrolable EGTs but what explains the low boost. I reinstalled the DDII's and did a couple of WOT runs and need help from you guys to tell me if my numbers are indicative of a problem.

I have a B1 turbo, DDII's, Piers Cam, Piers Stage II Head Porting, AEF MagaCannon, 4" exhaust and a CompDrag box. I need to know what others with similular setups are getting for boost numbers with this setup. With no load, Comp box off, and pulling a good hill I can get about 31psi at WOT. With Comp on 1 I get about 38psi. And with the Comp on 5 I get just over 40psi. I am being told that this combination should net me 5 to 10 more psi.

Let me know what you have and any ideas you may have... Thanks in advanced

I hit 53psi of boost with bully dog 7's,and I hit 47 psi with dd3's both on a large housing B1,and drag comp. Now that I have a . 020 thicker head gasket,my boost has dropped 2-3 psi at WOT. I Think you have a boost leak. I also hit 486hp with the BD7's in less than ideal conditions.

Just a little bump to the top for some more exposure.

I have been trying to help BatMan01 with his problem. We swapped comp boxes and no change. We checked the waste gate hold down bolt on the B1 and its tight. When the truck was at Piers place they pressure checked the intercooler/hoses etc. I can not think of anything else. We may try putting his B1 on my truck to see if I can get it over 40 psi, but that is alot of work for a 10 minute test.

Any one ever run just a down pipe off the turbo?? I guess that is the ultimate straight pipe :D

I'm running Super Mentals and stock cam I hit 46psi. I bought a DD cam, I haven't received it yet, it's going in my truck real soon. I'm curious to see if my boost levels will change.

The thing I still find weird about the problem is that the Comp box does not seem to make any difference in boost levels. A 3 psi difference between 1x1 and 5x5 is very strange. I ran BatMan's comp on my truck and it is definitly working fine.

When I had a B-1 and Bullydog 7's I could hit 51/52 psi, but the pyro was skyrocketing to 1600. You say you have 150 hp injectors, whose are they? If you are referring to the DDII's they are 75 hp injectors and your numbers are right in line if your are running the DDII's. Keep in mind with a cam change your boost numbers will drop. Lower boost with coooooler egt's will net greater hp gains over high boost with high egt's. Fred

Also if your comp is working on another truck, try checking your pump wire, and it is possible that your harness could be bad. I had to replace a harness recently, but at that time I soldered the pump wire to eliminate any problems. :--)

The 170hp injectors were pulled and the DDII's put back in so I could figure out what is going on.

Just to update. . I am now up to 40psi on setting 1/1. JR2 and I found a couple of lose bolts that attach the compressor housing. Another thing we found is that when I checked the voltage from the pump it varied from 8 to 12 volts. I played with the connection at the blue chip cover and now I get pulsing on 5/5 at WOT. I was able to get 46psi but it is not consistant. This is probably my problem and I will probably have to toss the blue chip cover and just pierce the wire. As I understand it Chrysler is know having warrenty tech's look for marks inside the pump cover so no loss there.

If 40psi on 1/1 and 46psi on 5/5 where I should be then fixing the pump wire (This weekend job) and tighting the compressor housing did it.

Live and learn: When the dyno results showed a 60hp gain from Comp off to 5/5, I thought that everything was good that was all I was going to get out of my ETH. On a hunch, I called Edge and asked about the 8 volts and 60hp gain and they said that peak horse power gain is affected by the voltage level. As I said "Live and Learn"

Thanks JR2 for braving the mosquitos and helping me and thanks to those that responded. This group of "Diesel Breathing Junkies" is the greatest support group in the world for this consuming "Habit"... Thanks again

I will post this weekend and let everyone know what happens.

batman, i have been having the same problem. Boost is down from where it used to run. I have dd3's in right now and a drag comp and i am seeing 45 psi on 5x5 with my standard housing B1. The funny thing is i can hit 42 psi on level 1x1. Interesting that we are both only seeing 3 psi increase through the levels. I am also going to check the connection at my pump cover tomorrow. I didn't know what psi I should be getting with this combo as I had my B1 off for a while and made changes to the truck before putting it back on. I used to regularly hit 47-48 psi with an EZ stacked on a tst PMAX comp version box. Now you have me thinking. I thought that only a 3 psi increase was strange, but the truck seems to run good enough. Oh well, I will check it out also.

Let me know what you find and I will do the same. I will not be able to work on mine until This weekend. More then... .

batman, ever find anything out. I gave the contact on the blue chip cover a 1/4 turn and double checked voltage. solid 12. 26 volts. Doesn't seem to have changed anything on truck. Still runs strong, just seems to be down on boost. I think ill head to a dyno to see what she's putting out before i worry about it too much more.

I still have not found out anything more. I pulled the B1 and sent it down to be paired up with a B2 and asked that they check it over real good to make sure that it is alright. I also requested that the completed setup (B1/B2) be tested on a truck before they ship it to me. It will be about 3 weeks before I receive it so I am putting my stock HX35 back on tonight. I have a 400 mile trip I have to make Saturday and will play around and see if the problem is still here. I will let you know Sunday what I find. Keep me posted if you find out somthing before me.
