I noticed that my turbo is leaking oil. I know you can get turbos rebuilt, but I also heard that the shaft and impeller might be suspect since i don't have a cool down timer. I always let my EGTs drop to 500F before shutting down the truck but I've only had it for 3 months and have no idea how it was treated before I got it. Is it worth rebuilding this turbo or should I look to replace/upgrade? If i go with an upgrade, what size would work well with my current set up?



BTW, does anyone know what size a B1 is?

Anyone? Need to get this fixed soon and would really appreciate some opinions. I'm thinking of maybe picking up a stock turbo and then going with Wicked Twins (stock/S400).
 
I believe your idea of a stock HE351 over an S400 is a terrific idea. Shane at Wicked may even be able to resource a stock turbo for you. Be careful buying one off ebay, or the forums for that matter, unless someone you trust can vouch for the turbo in question.



You may even try Rip Rook at Source Automotive in Portland, OR. He also has a stock turbo over an S400 setup(MPI). Either one of these guys I would trust, I have had first hand experience with both, Super customer service.



I believe a B1 is 57/65/14, not sure, someone will correct me promptly if incorrect.

"cooling" down to 500F??? Mine runs at 5-800F. Soon as I let off the throttle the temp drops to 300F. By the time I pull to a stop the temp is 250F or less. Sounds like you need to let it cool for 30 sec or so. Good luck.

My pyro gauge must be off cause the truck idles at just a wisker below 400F. Sounds like it might be time to replace that too. I've been wanting to change over to Isspro EV2s anyways. Thanks for the heads up!
