Ok, I picked up my B1 turbo from Nowel (HVAC) of performance diesel last sunday. I have been waiting to post my results to date, as i wanted to get some miles on it and give a fair, real world evalutation. I know max boost and egt numbers are important to us, why else would we be changing turbos in the first place. However, for me and im sure most guys out there, who can't afford to have a toy and a work vehicle, there is the daily driveablility that we must maintain.
Ok before with my hx35, doing 1/4 mile runs with G-TECH pro, i would be hitting high 1500s to mid 1600's consistantly at the end of each run @95 mph. Boost was 45 psi with the Powermax Comp set to nuclear melt down. Now with the B1, hitting 50 psi, the hottest i was able to get it the other night on 4 back to back runs was a spike of 1408 on the SPA memory. The funny thing is the egt's would spike in the mid 1300's and then actually start coming down. On my last run, the one where i spiked 1408, at 100 mph the temps were only 1323. I am getting a legitimate 250-300 degree reduction in temps over the hx35. As a matter of fact, with the pm comp off, running on only the dd3's and the EZ, i have not been able to get it to 1100 degrees yet. I am hitting 40 psi with just the dd3's and ez.
The boost and temps just do not tell the story with this thing. The drieveability and response is incredible. It really spools almost as fast as my hx35. From 10 to 30 psi goes by in a flash. It is unbelievable that it spools so quickly yet still flows on the top end. I can not wait to tow my trailer with this thing. As quickly as it responds, i am expecting nothing but smiles.
I had hoped to compare #'s with MarkKendrick because we have very similar set ups now. But he so inconsiderately turned his OEM clutch in to a torque convertor before he could lay down any real #'s
I know he dynoed his truck on a real dyno, so i was curious about what i am laying down. However, Using the dyno feature of the g-tech, i would get cosistant mid 390's with the hx35. Now i am getting 430's with the B1. 40 hp Oo. that rocks. It really wakes up the top end on my truck. Again i would like to give a big thanks to Brandon for his help with the install and fitting of the down pipe, and to HVAC for supplying the new hair dryer. Hey kwikkurt, i would just like to thank you for selling your soul to you know who, cause that's the only way i can imagine this thing is woriking as well as it is.
