I ran a B1-2 and Mach4s. That is a very sweet setup. Max EGTs were 1400 5x5 and spooled nicely. Now, good luck getting one lol. I had one on order since April... same story every time I called. No housings. I gave up in August and am working with Industrial Injection trying to find a good setup.

It there a big diffrence on the top end bettween ETC and ETH as far as heat with big sticks.

Luke says b1-2 ran 1400 would I run 1500 or 1600 with my ETH? should be about 40 extra horses out of the 4s with a good VP

I want to pick some thing that is big enough for the top end but still compliments the catcher -quick spool up. Not sure what to do might have to get the ecm flashed to run with a comp in order to have a smooth setup.

Did you finaly sell your b1 Csutton

so im good to 40 with the stock HG no need to retourqe or any thing

Be hell to be running around on 4s and a b1 and blow the HG and glaze the stocker clutch all in the same race!

I can't imagine there'd be that much diff in temps between the two motors---key is to make sure truck is warm and keep the high egt runs to under 20sec---

no I still have both my B1's---wouldn't hurt to retorque or at least check the torque--unless you've done it lately---if you're worried add the studs--but you should be ok if you keep to 40-45lbs---chris

i can easily keep my egts managed(under 1300) if i keep the rpms up. if i lose concentration though and lug it a bit they will go through the roof (1400+ easily). not sure on exact boost numbers, wraps my 35psi gauge allmost back to zero , guessing close to 50psi ( ya im too cheap to replace it, but it still zeros). head is studded but not o-ringed, i just try to make sure its good and warm before punishing it. will probably go up to stage 4 or better injectors soon, although with the towing i do it can get pretty hot if i dont drive with one eye on the pyro as it is. slower spool up than factory hx35

oh ya, toasted the factory clutch in about 20min after injector and turbo install...

Keep in mind luke lives at 7,000 and drives at 5000+ everyday and no lower. So his #'s would be much lower at sea level. From my experience 200 degrees or more even.

sounds like a b1-2 is a little small for mach 4s comped, but then any of don's EDMs will run cooler and smoother
Nah B1-2 is plenty for 4s. At 6000' on 3x5 1300 was all I would ever see. 5x5 might touch 1400 briefly. 1400 is nothing to worry about for a any truck let alone a 500hp single turbo truck. Trust me you don't need a full B1 for 4s. Big laggy turbos are not much fun ;)

I ran Mach 4s with a full B1 wastegated at 48lbs. edge drag 5X5 i could easily hit 1600plus at 700ft First I had mach 5. 5 in for a few days on 1x5 i could hit 1600deg. I also have a 6spd HO truck here now That has lukes old Mach 4s in it with a edge EZ on the lowest setting with a Hx-40 14cm wastegated turbo hitting 1400 is no problem and thats not WOT.

Wow. I've seen 1400* (@ WOT) on the street so far with my current setup. The 191s have only been in since Saturday. Can bury the pyro on the dyno, doing the 1/4 mile run with the stock 181s. Will see how it is towing heavier stuff. Only hauled maybe 2-3k so far with them in.

50psi is the limit on the 2nd Gens for keeping your HG safe. I can only hit 41psi with my BD3's and comp on 5X5. I think it should be a bit higher but on the other hand it keeps my HG safe.

Haha that last comment should have said B1-2. I can only surmise that if you have an ETH you are up against some other factors that lead to heat i. e. Olee. I know what hot is as my truck with the 35/12 would easily hit 1650 with just Mach2s. As soon as the B1-2 went in, temps dropped substantially. Even with 4s 1400 was about it 5x5, unloaded, 5th gear pull.

I don't want to sound like I am dogging Industrial Injection because they are still working with me to find a setup that works a little better than the 66. As I understand it their 66s work well on the CR trucks but due to different fueling characteristics, not so well on the VP truck. My B1-2 would hit pretty hard around 1600-1650 and the 66 doesn't really go until 1900-2000 range. That ain't no fun and makes it a PITA to drive. They are working on a smaller compressor wheel that I'll be trying here hopefully soon.

To OPOOLE/ LUKE WARMWATER and others

Just reading though this thread and want to know how much further up the injector size i can go (see sig for mods). I definetly think i have room with this B1-2 but i am cautious cause i do tow about 8000-9000 TT with all my crap through the Canadian rockies, city elevation is 3300+. I have older Mach 1. 5 now but i think (with my limited knowledge) i could run 2. 5 and still be safe. What do you think guys,I will definetly error on the side of caution/safe than sorry or just leave well enough alone  . How much more smoke will there be if i move up to 2. 5s. I just want an honest opinion from guys who bin there done that with the larger sticks and are willing to help me out. THANKS DW. ----PS I ran a 2005 3500sw auto with a bullydog box(130HP),afe/exhaust etc from about 25mph to 95mph with my current set up ,neck and neck all the way,we agreed no winner but it was close, though it did OK considering i'm a second gener with less stock HP.

Towing w/2.5's

I think you would be seeing EGT's too high with 2. 5's at your towing weights and altitudes. I have a set or 2. 5's in my '01 truck and when towing 9-10K I can see 1250-1350 pretty easy, and this is at 1000' elevation. So at your elevations I'm pretty sure you will be way to hot.

If you can use WOT in top gear at 18-2000 rpm and stay under 1300* I'd leave well enough alone. Otherwise you will be towing with one eye on the pyro, and on on the road on every hill or with headwinds.

Thanks for the info Lsfarm,i'm eyeing a set of your ladder bars too,so if no injector upgrade,i will probable put the money towards the bars, something i could really use. DW. ;)

Thanks, a member who is in my area, not to many around here. I would love to run the B1-2 and some 4"s,if i was not going to tow,Let me know how the 4,s are when you get a chance to put a few miles on them. I just might have to give Bob Wagner a call for some 2. 5's :-laf :-laf ;) or wait until OPool put his on sale again without the core charge(200. 00$$$ OUCH)

4'S tow fine, the key is to leave the boxes off. If i leave my comp off, i can tow very nicely with my 4's. yes you have to watch the pyro, but hey thats what it's there for. temps are very controllable with the right foot.
