Was a member from "99" - "04" known as Runaway at the time. Was running a 99 CTD/Auto and then an 01 CTD/6speed. Been running GM since "03. " Current truck is an 08 2500HD DMAX/ALLY. Been a good truck for me and I wouldn't be considering trading at this time but I have started transporting Travel trailers, Goosenecks, and 5vers. Looks like I can make a living at it but need a bigger truck. So I am looking for a 3500 Crew Cab and Long Box/dually. I know what I will be getting if I go GM this time around, but the new Dodge is pretty slick looking too and I am considering it as my pick. I know the 6. 7 has had some growing pains and what I need to know is the following:

1) Turbo and EGR valve getting gummed up - still an issue?

2) Per the owners manual, how many miles on an oil change?

3) For you dually drivers, what is your average empty and loaded mileage.

Think that is enough for a start. Looking forward to the feedback.

TIA

In a word ,no. The grocery getter's may have an issue once in awhile, but for some one who tows a lot, no.

2) Per the owners manual, how many miles on an oil change?

7500 miles or when the computer indicates. I have never seen the message and I have it change between 7500 and 8000.

3) For you dually drivers, what is your average empty and loaded mileage.

I really can't answer this one, because I tow about 95% of the time. But when I do, the computer usually shows high 13's - low 14's climbing up from 10. 5-11 towing my loaded 16' enclosed trailer around Shell Knob. That's me driving the hills and curves in the south west Ozark mountain area west of Branson.

The last ECM flash cured the sticky turbo and I get 15 to 16 unloaded and around 10 loaded (my trailer is basically a bunch of equipment so its a big un-aerodynamic sail). Since I paid for oil changes up to 100K, I do it whenever I feel like it but usually around 5K.

You will love the truck.

Thought there would be more feedback than this already. For those who posted, thanks for info. Have two trucks I am sort of interested in at two different dealers. Having a hard time getting the sales people to do there job. Neither dealer seems too interested in my business yet. Oh well, how about some of you others - would like to hear the dually mileage figures. Oo.

Over the last 12 years or so I've had three Dodges and two Powerstrokes. One Dodge was a dually, and it got the best mileage of the bunch. All were 4x4 four doors. I don't think two more skinny wheels adds much drag.
