Had a '97 Eldorado named Marvin (if you have ever seen Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy then you understand) that was the best car for winter driving that I have ever owned. Quit running it at 260,000 miles when the head gasket finally let go. I have run several other vehicles since but none really compared.
Soooooooo I'm out tire kicking a few weeks back and stumbled onto a 2006 Cadillac DTS Luxury I. It needed a little work but was sound. Dealer had been stuck with it since last fall, so the Karma was right to make a lowball out the door offer. Apparently the shop did not do much of an evaluation on it as the front wheel bearings were just a growling. I think that turned any potential buyers off right there after a test drive.
But that did not scare me, I know that powertrain and knew exactly what it needed.
They accepted the low, low, low offer. Crap, now I own another car......
So just finished putting new front wheel bearings and c/v shafts in it this weekend, fixed the HID headlights and several other blown lights, only thing left is to fix the driver and front passenger heated/cooled seats.
It drove to work this morning as a Cadillac should, and that is quietly.
Let me know if you think that I might have lost my mind.....
Please forgive the filthy mess all over the car, it is springtime in Maine and my place is a mile in on a dirt road......
