Back in the "Dodge" family again!

Well after going to Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale last month I decided which way I needed to go for a replacement for my 02 2500CTD. I went there looking for a 60's muscle car and or 76-79 CJ-5s. There were no CJ-5s, lots of nice muscle cars but nothing that really blew my skirt up. Everything at BJ could be had right around my upstate SC area for the same money. There was nothing there I could not live without or anything I just had to have. After getting home I started thinking... my wife and I have both liked the Challengers since Dodge brought them back. I think they really did it right. Looked at the Camaro's and the mustangs and they in my opinion went a little overboard on maybe trying to hard to outdo the Challenger but they missed the original look a like similarities. Well anyways we bought a new 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat. It's got more HP than any of the "muscle cars" I was looking at, came with a warranty, and is very comfortable and dependable to drive. It is truly bat ***** crazy for fast with the 6.2 supercharged motor and has all kinds of cool things like "launch control", "Sport Mode" which turns off the traction control and enables the paddle shifters on the steering column for the 8 speed "auto-stick", and also has "Track Mode". The Harmon Kardon 19 speaker 900 watt sound system sounds great also and the volume automatically gets higher as your speed increases.This thing is supposed to do better than 200mph and I've done 120 on the way home from picking it up at the Dealer and found it necessary to keep my foot rested off to the side of the go pedal and barely touching the throttle to maintain 80-90 mph. Like pulling back on the reins of a prized race horse when it just wants to get it on. I want to try to find out if they ever allow regular people to run at Charlotte Motor Speedway just for fun after I do a few mods. It seems to be built really well with a tunable suspension and braking system. Had to put it up on the lift to get some good oil and filter into it. It even has a drain for the oil cooler line. It's the fastest thing I've ever driven including the formula car I raced in the late 70's. The 67 Chevy SS 396/375 hp I had in high school doesn't even come close .

Just curious on your oil choice. We've been running the recommended Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40 Full Synthetic in the wife's '15 6.4 which I though is what the Hellcat called for.

I bought out all the local AutoZone supplies back in the fall of '15 when they dropped the 0w-40 Utlra Platinum for $2 and $3 a quart. Picked up abut 50 qts but am down to one oil change and looking at alternatives.

NICE!!!!!!! It looks as good as your garage. They seem to be more common now, I saw one at the dealer sitting outside overnight this weekend. They had them in a show room that you had to be invited for.*

There were 4 hellcats at the dealer I visited recently. 2 chally 2 chargers. One was white with a saddle interior. It was real nice! One was GoManGo, looked like it stepped outta 1971!*

If I could afford a hellcat I would buy it in a heart beat I love the Chrysler muscle cars ever since my first one a 1969 Plymouth GTX convertible that I bought new from a dealership in 1970

The silver thing appeared to me to be protectors against debris coming up into the joint and or protection against running into something?










***moparguy*** I don't want to start an oil war here but I love Amsoil products including their oil filters due to the long run media they use on their 25,000 mile filters. I used the Amsoil 0-w40 Signature
oil. Been using Amsoil since 1983 when their gear oil solved a 1st to 2nd gear grind when we lived in Alaska and it was below 0. The service dept contacted Toyota over the problem and they said it was normal and to let it warm up more. I said BS, put the 80w-90 Amsoil gear lube in and problem solved until I sold the truck in 2002, even at 40 below zero, no grinding with no warm up. But anyways I love driving this Hellcat... there was a moped out on a two lane country road, nobody coming from the other direction and the 2 cars in front of me just following the moped. At about 30 mph in "Sport" mode traction control off (my fav) I eased the throttle to the floor and I was propelled sideways down the road and I lost the past cars and moped in the rear view mirror in about 4 seconds. And we are close to 750 HP now with the AFE. They had a complete enclosed air intake but this one appeared to me to work better with all the air directed into this filter area. What a pump to drive!
